Advance Wars
Top-notch turn-based fun with an anime-style. Nice.
The graphics are very nice, the animation being fluid, the units and scenery colourful and quite detailed; for the GBA, that is. It’s varied too, which is something of a bonus, and the colourful and clear design makes for a very pleasant and eye-catching change. The display, perhaps most importantly, is functional too, and well-designed, meaning that you don’t have to switch to the map screen every few minutes – just to navigate your charges.

The sound of the game isn’t too bad; the music actually being of the not too annoying kind, what’s more you can turn it off if it does becoming a little aggravating. The game also offers plenty in the multiplayer department be it via four GBAs linked or using the special option and passing one single GBA between turns with your mates (if you’re into that sort of thing).
All-in-all Advance Wars is a very pleasing addition to any gamers collection; offering a perfectly balanced and finely tuned experience that proves both addictive and immersive. A very complete and attractive package, overall, and one that everyone will enjoy. Go and buy it. Now.
