The original Hitman game, Hitman: Code 47, was supposed to be an awesome achievement in gaming terms. It did not, however, completely fulfil expectations, receiving a mixed response. The game had many faults, including bad enemy AI, leading to and enjoyable yet flawed game, it was a missed opportunity for and Co…. Now however, there is a glimmer on the horizon for all you wannabe Hitmen. They call it Hitman 2: Silent Assassin, the question is though, is it good enough to erase all memories of the negative comments on the original? Let us see…

The story for Hitman 2 is going to be quite simple. It would seem that our nameless Hitman has chosen to lead a quiet life after all of the killings that he had to commit, and has moved to a Sicilian monastery to be alone, probably to do some gardening and knitting as well. This, obviously, is not going to be the case for long, and before you know it, his Padre gets kidnapped by a Russian and our hitman is forced back into action, murdering and assassinating left, right and centre, so that the chap isn’t executed by his captors. Just to make matters that little bit more difficult for a bar-coded killer, he is also being hunted; this time it’s an ex-Spetsnaz Assassin. Great. Just when he thought he could concentrate on growing some lovely Daffodils...

Hitman 2, as in the first, has beautiful graphics. The buildings are sharp, clear and very realistic and the lighting effects are very nice (shadows and whatnot are very moody), our hitman himself looks as well tailored (and as deadly) as ever, the hulking great bloke that he is. A lot of work has gone into making Hitman 2 as graphically advanced as possible, and it shows. The boys have been hard at work here, creating a very stylish looking game… It reminds me of some scene from Leon, or something similar… Very nice. Just look at the screenshots! I just hope that it performs as well as it looks.
