Whilst those in favour of the merging of these two Japanese creators had hoped that an agreement was nearing fulfilment, the proposed merger has hit a rather large snag. This comes in the shape of Masashi Miyamoto, 40% owner of Square, who does not agree to the terms of the coupling.

The deal will give Enix shareholders 0.81 of a Square share for each Enix share they possess; a significant increase in the value of their stock and one that it is believed forms the basis of Miyamoto’s objection.

More news on this as we get it.
