Tomb Raider and more bound for Steam
Eidos reveal online deal
Eidos Interactive have 'virtually' (geddit?) leapt-into bed with Valve Software and their Steam online distribution service today, announcing a new partnership that will see a number of high-profile games sold online via the popular content delivery platform.
Some of Eidos' biggest names will be available thanks to Steam, the companies were both proud to announce yesterday evening, with the likes Battlestations Midway, Just Cause, Hitman, Tomb Raider and Commandos available now. New games will cost 35.95 USD, older titles 17.95 USD. There's even a 10% discount on Eidos titles until March 26th.
"For over 10 years, Eidos has been a leading publisher on every major gaming platform," beamed Gabe Newell, co-founder and president of Valve. "Offering legendary action franchises in complete sets and working with Eidos to deliver new releases is a great step forward in our efforts to expand Steam's offerings, and to do so in ways that provide highest value to customers."
Steam is most famous for being the most popular way of buying and downloading Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike related games, but has in the last twelve months grown in stature as a way of publishing third-party games too. More as we get it.
