Obviously looking to kick-start the games market in China, are currently considering their options with regard to selling their wares in the people’s republic. One option under consideration, according to Nintendo President (in an interview with IGN), is the marketing of an older Nintendo console, possibly the Super NES, which would help them combat piracy, as well as allowing them to sell at more affordable prices presumably.

Specifics are a little unclear at the moment, though one would guess that an older cartridge-based format would provide better copyright protection than a CD-based system. and surrounding territories are traditional havens for copyright infringement due to inadequate legislation to combat the problem.

More news on this curious as we get it.
