Valve promise longer Half-Life 2: Episode Two
8 hours of gameplay planned
Half-Life 2: Episode One may have been more than enough to keep the fans and critics satiated, but developer Valve are hoping for even more from Episode Two. Two additional hours-worth, in fact.
Speaking to blog Fringe Drinking, Valve PR boss Doug Lombardi revealed that Half-Life 2: Episode Two "will be closer to eight hours of gameplay." An exciting prospect indeed for fans of the Half-Life series. The grand fromage also spoke of the developer's efforts to reduce the development time between episodic installments, noting that Episode Two has been created more quickly than episode One.
"Episode One took 18 months to complete and Episode Two will end up being about 13 to 14 months, so we're trimming it down. I think we'll get closer to a year and be on a 12 month cycle. We'll see how it goes after this trilogy is done."
Half-Life 2: Episode Two should be out later this year, and whilst trilogy plans have previously been mooted it sounds like Valve are beginning to plan their options beyond Episode Three. Half-Life 3 perhaps?
We'll keep our noses to the ground.
