Commodore plot new gaming computers
New systems to be unveiled in Hannover
Commodore Gaming may have been the biggest name in videogaming in the 1980s, but very rarely has a brand that was a household name so rapidly disappeared from the public conscious as the inevitable march of technology swept the once mighty firm aside. The computer maker is on the return though, we today learn, with Commodore set to unveil a 'new breed' of gaming PC systems at the CeBIT show in Hannover.

Commodore still boast a small following, but the PC has come on in leaps and bounds as a gaming platform since the Amiga ruled the roost. Indeed, the PC now boasts its own dedicated gaming brands, in he shape of Alienware, VoodooPC, et al.
Last year, Commodore announced a (rather premature) revival, setting itself up as a distributer of games for mobile phones in Europe. This latest attempt to bring the brand back from the grave will therefore be met with some skepticism, given the fierce competition the company will face.
Commodore are presently partnered with The Content Factory, who recently announced a portable media player and a lounge-focussed set-top box, both using the faded brand. More as we get it.
