With the PAL region launch of the PlayStation 3 console looming on March 23rd, we today learn that Resistance: Fall of Man will be getting a couple of improvements beforehand. The side of the game will be expanded, thanks to a new update to the title.

We're promised two new modes - Team Conversion and Assault. Team Conversion is similar to the present Conversion mode, except that both teams will start off as human, with one life each. The Assault mode, meanwhile, tasks the player with assaulting the enemy's base, grinding down their defenses before destroying their HQ.

Sony also reveal that a new spectator mode will be added, allowing onlookers to view matches through the eyes of a particular player, or via a free-roaming camera. We're even promised a further update to come May, with a couple of new maps promised.

Both new maps will be set in the UK, one on the snowy hills of Northern England, the other in Camborn, featuring above and below ground combat. Global matchmaking and leaderboards will also join the game as part of this update.
