Doubt surrounds future of SiN
Episode 1 the last?
Having announced the acquisition of Ritual yesterday, Mumbo Jumbo have already cast doubt over Ritual's flagship SiN Episodes game(s), the episodic FPS distributed via Valve's Steam delivery platform.
"The idea of acquiring Ritual was to have them strengthen our development in the casual genre and not to have them involved at all in the action style games," explained Mark Cottam, CEO of Mumbo Jumbo talking to GameDaily. "If there's an opportunity to have them do something on the SiN episodes, we would look at that, but that will not be the focus of the company."
Cottam explained that while it was possible SiN and other 'traditional games' could continue at Ritual, they would have to be justified from a business standpoint, with casual games being the planned focus of the newly merged companies. So is this the end of SiN? Ritual were certainly enthusiastic about their FPS series, prior to takeover, but it sounds like this isn't Mumbo Jumbo's plan.
More on SiN and Ritual as we get it.
