Starcraft and Diablo sequels mooted by Blizzard
But no details
Taking a break from swimming in Blizzard's own personal sea of truffles, executive Itzik Ben Bassat has hinted at a new Starcraft game from the World of Warcraft developer.
"As a Starcraft player I can tell you that I hope it wouldn't go a decade - we launched Starcraft in '98 - I hope it wouldn't go a decade before we stand here and celebrate the next Starcraft together," Itzik Ben Bassat teased the crowds gathered at The Burning Crusade's launch event in London last night.
He reminded the ensemble of fans that Blizzard also have two other top-draw series to consider beyond Warcraft, Diablo and Starcraft. "We haven't forgotten that we have these two franchises, and what I can tell you is that I look forward to stand here in a few years, or whenever it's going to be, and celebrate with you the launch of the next Starcraft or the next Diablo."
Of course, new additions to these once-influential series have always been regarded as something of a given... it being more a case of 'when' rather than 'if'. So, does Bassat know something we don't? Let's hope so.
