Lord of the Rings MMO beta commencing
200,000 testers needed
A European beta test is set to kick-off tomorrow for Lord of the Rings MMO title Shadows of Angmar, which will officially open from January 13th. The Turbine developed game has been in the pipeline for sometime with this beta said to be supported by local publisher Codemasters.
The first 'stress test' (sounds like something related to our ad sales team) will be a major milestone, apparently, and if you'd like to get an early glimpse at the Tolkien inspired persistent world then might we suggest you sign up to be a part of this beta via the official site.
"For the first time we will be allowing tens of thousands of people to join the game and test every aspect to the absolute limit," producer Jim Brown explained. "By introducing a great number of new players to the beta, we will be able to gather valuable information on performance of our hardware."
The game is due out in the spring, but the beta will include as many as 200,000 players, putting the game's coding through its paces before a commercial debut. We'll keep you posted on this.
