No, it isn't a tongue-twister designed to detect drunks, nor is it some kind of entirely unfunny joke we've deigned to paste across our website, it is in fact the news of Sony's latest e-distribution enhancement. The PS3 Store now boasts five bona-fide games, available for purchase and download now.

Whilst the games can only be purchased and downloaded to a PS3, they cannot actually be played on a PS3 at present, the system currently acting only as method for acquiring the game - which is playable on the (thanks to the most recent updates for the PlayStation Portable). To get the games onto the PSP you'll need to connect the handheld to the console before commencing the download, using a USB cable to save the ancient game onto the Memory Stick Duo.

You will of course need to ensure there is sufficient space on the memory stick to store the game(s), which cost 5.99 USD a pop stateside. Crash Bandicoot, Cool Boarders, Syphon Filter, Hot Shots 2 and 2 are available at present, with promising to add more to the store in due course. Games can be moved from the PS3 five times following download, and we're told that functionality remains missing for now.

Emulators allowing PSone and downloads to run directly on the PS3 are expected soon, along with further games for both out-moded platforms on the PSP. More on this soon.
