PS3 firmware revised for Euro launch
But what's inside?

The update will include brand new features and gaming capabilities, the Sony Europe VP revealed.

The exact content of the update remains unclear, but speculation points to enhanced media centre capabilities, and greater support for third-party software (Linux and other OS's?) and peripherals. One report online even suggests that the use of 'interactive controllers' could be related to the update, implying perhaps that Sony are looking to better cover ground currently occupied by the newly released Nintendo Wii.
As well as a few exciting enhancements, hope has it that the update may also fix the problem related to the PS3's current lack of support for 1080i resolutions - the standard on several older HD TV sets. We'll keep you posted on Sony's murmuring concerning this update as we get it. Until then, we'll halt the spurious speculation there.
