The veteran designer credited with the creation of the series as well as other groundbreaking titles for Japanese developer-publsiher Konami, Hideo Kojima, has publicly stated that he misses the inclusion of force feedback technology in the controller for the new console. Kojima is currently developing the eagerly awaited Metal Gear Solid 4 for Sony's machine, and confessed he still hopes that the rumble feature can make a return in a future controller.

Speaking to the Official PlayStation Magazine (as reported this morning by site Eurogamer.net) he stated "The controls in MGS3 got a little complex, so you'll have a little more direct control in MGS4," in response to a question in a preview concerning the new game's controls. "That said, I miss the rumble and even now I hope it will come back."

Sony execs have repeatedly stated that the feature was omitted due to design and technical constrictions, with the platform holder instead choosing to focus on the tilt functionality. On this topic Kojima was more guarded, stating that the feature will be used but he's not quite sure exactly how yet. We'll keep you posted on the PS3 and of course MGS4 as we get it.
