It would appear that standing, loitering, or camping outside American Best Buy stores in the (vain) hope of nabbing a PlayStation 3 on its Friday launch can be somewhat bad for your health-a perilous pastime indeed, or genuinely interactive gameplay.

Eager PlayStation 3 consumers patiently gathered outside a Best Buy in Lexington, Kentucky, all of whom clearly have high expectations where available launch units are concerned, got something really rather unexpected yesterday when they were subjected to an impromtu driveby shooting.

Four of the gathered queue campers suffered minor injuries from a hail of BB pellets, as did a female news reporter from WKYT who was hit in the back of the leg while interviewing some of those in the line up. Though no one was seriously hurt, some of those left waiting in line have confessed that they're now in fear of their very lives. Hopefully appreciates the mortal lengths some of these consumers will go to in order to secure one of its new consoles.

Currently, the local Lexington authorities haven't been able to locate the BB gun-toting villains, but police officers have been assigned to protect the gathered campers until the Best Buy store opens on the official Friday launch.
