Parliament discuss Bully concern
Blair praises UK games business
Labour MP Keith Vaz has today addressed a question concerning Rockstar's Bully (Canis Canem Edit in the UK), to prime minister Tony Blair, during Prime Minister's Question Time in London today. Vaz suggested that perhaps more should be done to protect children from the harmful influence violent videogames might have, noting that the controversial title includes examples of extreme violence in classroom scenes.

Yesterday's news that the game will not be sold by several UK retail chains was also noted by Vaz, who asked whether the prime minister would initiate a meeting between industry representatives, parents groups and other concerned parties in order to discuss issues and concerns. Vaz concluded, asking the prime minister whether "he will accept this is not about adult censorship, this is about protecting children?"
Blair responded by praising the MP's dedication to an important issue, also commending the game industry's efforts to address concern over violent titles like Bully in recent years. Vaz has previously asked parliament to ban Bully, citing concern from parents groups, though when questioned Blair admitted he hadn't seen the title for himself. The prime minister also said a meeting to discuss the situation would be desirable, adding that the issue was 'obviously important'. More soon.
