Developer RedOctane have used the platform of to unveil a brand new title, en route to the 360. Guitar Hero II was announced alongside a special controller for the title, also at X06, known as the X-Plorer, and we're certainly looking forward to witnessing what the acclaimed series can do on the new platform.

"The tour will continue the rockin’ gameplay Guitar Hero fans have come to enjoy, and will now include expanded capabilities," beamed Kai Huang, president of RedOctane. "With Guitar Hero II for Xbox 360 rock rhythm, lead, or bass guitar tracks with downloadable content and the new X-Plorer controller, designed specifically for the Xbox 360."

Certainly the potential for tying this game in with new content on Live is enormous, something RedOctane's head of publishing hasn't missed. "With its large integrated hard drive, Xbox 360 provides an incredible platform for facilitating downloadable content," commented Dusty Welch. "We believe there is no better title to feature micro-transactions than a game like Guitar Hero II, where the content is the basis of your experience. The relationship with the Marketplace creates endless possibilities for exclusive content."

So there you have it. No release date has been mooted as yet.
