Rockstar Games, who recently had their controversial prank 'em up Bully passed for sale in Australia, have apparently changed the name of the controversial title altogether. Canis Canem Edit will apparently be the new label given to the title, and that translates as dog eat dog - for those that were smoking behind the bike sheds during those Latin classes.

Despite very little being known about the content of the title still, campaigners have been voicing their concern about 'Bully' for some time, and the suggestion that the console title could feature between children has seen parents groups, politicians and more getting hot under the cover in a number of countries. Although they haven't officially explained the change of name, could be hoping to deflect some of the negative attention the name Bully was garnering, hopefully in the process garnering enough time for the game to be assessed on merit, rather than derided ahead of launch.

The name change will apparently not affect the publisher's launch plans for the title, with Canis Canem Edit still due for release in October - a release announced by Rockstar some time ago. We'll keep you posted on the expected furore and of course the Daily Mail-led backlash as we get it.
