Ubisoft get Lost
Several titles planned
No, it's not an insult aimed at France's highly-successful publishing house, it is in fact an allusion to Ubisoft's latest publishing deal, which surrounds a series of games based on the hit US TV series 'Lost'. PC, console and handheld titles based on Lost will be created by Ubisoft, who must be pleased they've bagged the rights to such a successful series, now shown in 210 countries.
Lost is a series based on the endeavours of an unusual group of people, left stranded on a Pacific island since a plane crash about a year previously. Or at least, that's how the series began, before injecting a healthy dose of ambiguity, intrigue and downright mystery into an already engrossing situation. The series first hit American television back in 2004, and has been wowing British television audiences for several months.
"That they have chosen us for the adaptation of the cult series Lost is the best homage that a producer can make to the creativity of Ubisoft," Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot commented on this new acquisition, which was perhaps aided by Ubi's impressive game adaptation of King Kong last Christmas.
"Many of us on Lost have been hardcore gamers for years and the chance to work with Ubisoft, a company behind some of our favourite titles, has excited us to no end," beamed producer Bryan Burk. "With the ability to tell new interactive stories within the Lost universe, we're giddy to be developing a game that, once completed, will be as engaging and fun to play as it is to create." More soon, then.
