Tomb Raider: Legend is only a month away from shop shelves now, and the first episode in the long-running series developed by is sure to be critically-scrutinised in forensic detail. Looking to build a little excitement ahead of the launch, (really SCI, these days), have released a few details on the new game's plot, specifically Lara's new foe.

Amanda Evert is an old friend of Lara's, obsessed with ancient beliefs, who reckons 'enlightenment' can be reached by combining lost religions. She begins the story dead, lost in an archaeological expedition to Peru, that is until their paths cross on Lara's latest adventure, pitting our heroine against her old friend.

Evert's tale will be told through flashbacks in the game, according to site IGN.com, who reveal that Lara watched Amanda drown when they were fleeing an ancient cave, after enflaming some kind of irate ancient spirit.

Recent reports also reveal that Crystal Dynamics have altered Lara's personality somewhat, to the extent where she'll be a little more 'realistic' and less embarrassing in the quipping department. We're also told to expect new outfits, no baseball caps (or Burberry print, we hope), and a more sensitive, emotional Lara. Lovely. More as April 11th nears.
