April for Tomb Raider's return
The 7th, precisely...
Tomb Raider, which recently made the BBC's Great British Design shortlist (despite hardly having excelled in more recent years) is set to return in April, according to an announcement from publisher Eidos today. Given the disappointment which smothered the release of Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness, this is perhaps the most important instalment in the series ever, Eidos desperate revive the ailing IP. The last game was so bad that series creator Core Design actually lost the project to American studio Crystal Dynamics, and Lara Croft fans will no doubt be eager to see what this new team can bring to the Tomb Raider world.
TR Legend will be out on PC, PS2 and Xbox on April the 7th, with the PSP and Xbox 360 version set to follow fairly rapidly. "We are all so excited that this totally new incarnation of Lara will capture gamers' hearts, just as her original game did, and challenge their minds like no Tomb Raider they've ever seen," enthused Eidos boss Larry Sparks.
Roll on April, so we can finally see what Crystal Dynamics have been up to, and whether Lara can once again find a place in our hearts.
