Stars Wars Battlefront 2 revealed
Pandemic reprise development role
With the cinematic release of Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith set for next month, game publishers are insatiably attempting to capitalise on the furore surrounding George Lucas' latest. Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees will both be released next month, and Lego Stars Wars is already with us. Now, LucasArts is confirming the development of Star Wars: Battlefront 2, sequel to last year's hit third-person shooter. Pandemic will once again develop.
Battlefront 2 is expected this Autumn on the Xbox, PlayStation 2, and PC. As before the game will thrust the player into the heat of a realistic war between the Rebels and the Empire, set across the spectrum of all six Star Wars films. The new Battlefront will also see space battles, allowing the player to pilot a fighter craft, dock with other ships, and continue fighting on foot too. Light-sabre touting Jedi will also be playable for the first time.
Multiplayer-wise, 24 players will be supported on PS2, 32 on Xbox and 64 on the PC. We're looking forward to learning more on this.
