Although we don't usually cover mobile-phone gaming on the site we are huge fans and can't resist mentioning the stupefying number of mini games that will coincide with Episode III's release next month. The Star Wars prequels are usually accompanied by a clutch of games which have been of a near-uniformly poor quality. This time round there's only one standalone title, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, that will be out in time for the film. To make up for this shortage, a squadron of Episode III related titles will be swooping down onto mobiles across the country in a few weeks time.

First up is Star Wars: Trivia. If you can't figure out what that game is about then there's little chance it will interest you, although it should be mentioned that you will be able to compete against other fans and that downloadable question packs will also be available. Next up is Puzzle Blaster, (assume a Star Wars: prefix from now on in), a simplistic puzzle game that will 'challenge' you to line up three Star Wars characters to clear the screen. The game will feature a mode and dozens of levels. Republic Commando Order 66 will allow you to assume the role of a clone Commander and do the Emperor's bidding on a variety of planets, clearing out Separatist forces using an array of special characters that will include the proto-Vader himself.

For some multiplayer lightsabre on lightsabre there's Jedi Arena. You can customise your own Jedi or Sith and then battle all the Force sensitive characters from all six films. You can then take on other gamers, earning equipment and skills as you slay your way across the mobile galaxy. Battle for the Republic is a multiplayer game which will charge the player with waging a successful war for either the Republic or Separatist forces. A team-based game, BftR will allow you to command troops, starfighters and entire armies in the battle for the galaxy. Scraping the bottom of the ideas barrel and we come to Ask Yoda, a 'game' where you can drop in and seek wisdom from the 900 year old Muppet. You can also watch him go about his duties, becoming a SW voyeur, ask him questions or tune in for his daily dollop of wrinkly wisdom.

Bucking things up a wee bit is Battle Above Coruscant. Taking the role of Anakin Skywalker the player must pilot their ship through this vertically scrolling shooter's levels in an attempt to rescue the Chancellor. Taking its cue from the opening scene of the film, BAC will feature a host of power-ups and see you destroying fighters, attacking battleships and generally reliving the biggest space battle ever committed to film. And finally there is the side-scrolling mobile version of the Episode III: Revenge of the Sith game. Featuring ten levels of action packed sequences the mobile version will allow you to play as key characters from the game such as Obi-Wan, Yoda and the mighty helmeted one, Darth Vader.

Hopefully no-one will be playing these games as I sit down to watch Episode III at midnight in exactly five weeks time.
