Peter Jackson sues New Line over LoTR games
More gaming litigation looms...
Despite the Lord of the Rings film trilogy taking fortunes globally, it appears director Peter Jackson is unhappy with the slice of the pie studio New Line have been giving him; revealing a lawsuit against the firm today. Jackson, and his studio Wingnut, want a greater share of the licensing revenue from the film, with EA's numerous game tie-ins proving a particular sticking point.
We "attempted to resolve our differences with New Line Cinema through the normal auditing process. That has proven unsatisfactory thus far," one of Wingnut's attorney's commented. Jackson's camp believe their man is entitled to cash based on the use of the script and music in the games; all of which drew extensively on the films. New Line aren't commenting at the moment. We'll keep an eye on this for you.
