Aping EyeToy title dated in Europe
Simian fun, on camera
A brand new Ape Escape inspired game for Sony's motion-sensor-tastic EyeToy peripheral is set to be launched in Europe come March 18th, and will be renamed EyeToy: Monkey Mania for debut, having been called Saru ('monkey') EyeToy in the east. Fifty-plus mini-games are touted in the brand new title, and features a competitive four-player board game style a la Mario Party - which will see players journeying around a board encounter challenges en route.
As you progress in the game you'll garner monkeys, who can be used to unlock new pathways to success, as well as lay traps for your rivals - though said monkeys do occasionally bite the hand that feeds, too. Several imaginative new game types are being mooted by Sony, but the proof is of course in the pudding and it will be interesting too see whether Monkey Mania can really square up to Mario and offer something new on the PS2. More soon.
