Halo 2 available Stateside
Naughty retailers break launch date
With but one day to go before the US launch of Halo 2, already a bestseller thanks to Microsoft's plentiful pre-orders, it has emerged that some smaller retailers stateside have been selling the game five full days ahead of the official launch date, a situation highly unusual in America. UK retailers are often lambasted for breaking street dates, but with a stronger legal framework in place stateside, it has always been less of a problem, making this something of concern for Microsoft and other retailers.
The retailer in question is reportedly the small Meijer chain, who are said to have broken release dates across the mid-west, some eager punters already having picked this title up and stuck it on eBay at grossly inflated prices. We've a couple of extra days to wait here in Blighty, though retailers are expected not to prove so troublesome, Microsoft and their distributor having bound retailers to strict contracts in an attempt to reign in rogue releases. We'll keep you posted on all such controversy.
