With the current generation of beginning to stagnate somewhat, the is slowly but surely beginning to turn towards the next generation of gaming hardware we'll all be playing on. Despite previous caution, Interactive are taking a more bold approach to developing for these new platforms it would seem - possibly gambling on establishing a few franchises from an early start. Specifically, Eidos-owned Io Interactive are said to be playing a 'key role' in the firm's move to the 2 and Playstation 3, though no individual games were mooted.

A new Hitman is due before July next year, as is a new Lara outing, so it would seem unlikely to be either of those heading to the next-generation of platforms any time soon - that said, who's to say that more than one game isn't in development, or perhaps a Freedom Fighters next-gen could be on the cards.

With regard to the handheld (which we're itching to play at TGS next week), new games are en route from Eidos, with the re-structured Core Design at the heart of new for the platform, which possibly includes a new game called Free Running mentioned by Sony in past briefings. We'll keep you posted.
