E3 2004: Prince of Persia 2 exposed
New screenshots and details on the Prince's return
We already knew that the critically adored Prince would be returning to our screens thanks to Ubisoft and their Montreal studio, and now we know something more on the game itself too, which will be heading to the PS2, Xbox and GameCube at the end of 2004. This time the Prince's peril seems even more desperate too, with a prophecy of death hanging over our hero as he journeys to a cursed island where mankind's greatest fear resides.
On his mystical trial, the Prince is hunted by Dahaka, an immortal incarnation of fate seeking divine retribution, and we're told the Prince will have to master new skills and face greater challenges if he is to survive in this new world of evils.
A dark theme, requiring a broader range of skills will be required, as the Prince's epic story continues from where the Sands of Time concluded. Projectiles of varying sorts will be at the Prince's disposal as part of a new ranged combat option, and unique fighting styles will evolve in the new combat system which allows our hero to manipulate enemies and his environment, just as he did with time in the original.
A brand new island setting is also promised, and a variety of ungodly monsters will be battling with the Prince in a number of new and disturbing ways. Finally, a longer game is promised along with new incentives for those completing the title. Which is nice. Enjoy the new screenshots.
