Alongside the first official images from the latest in the series comes word on the plotline to San Andreas, which will be heading to the this October. Rather than re-wording the clearly long-pondered PR wordings, I'll simply paste them here for you to digest:

Five years ago Carl Johnson escaped from the pressures of life in Los Santos, San Andreas...a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs and corruption. Where filmstars and millionaires do their best to avoid the dealers and gangbangers.

Now, it's the early 90s. Carl's got to go home. His mother has been murdered, his has fallen apart and his childhood friends are all heading towards disaster.

On his return to the neighbourhood, a couple of corrupt cops frame him for homicide. CJ is forced on a journey that takes him across the entire state of San Andreas, to save his family and to take control of the streets.

Liberty City. Vice City. Now San Andreas, a new chapter in the legendary series. Grand Theft Auto returns to the PlayStation 2 this October.

So there we have it. As expected an early nineties setting will feature, and a plot even grittier than the last two incarnations - infused with plenty of urban 'gangsta' ambience. More soon, we hope.
