YouTube application arrives on the PS3
Sony has launched a brand new app designed to bring YouTube to the PlayStation 3.
The new app, which is available from today, fully optimises the YouTube experience for use with the PS3 controller and high-definition TVs.
To that end it supports videos up to 720p, content flagging and Closed Captions alongside the trending and popular playlists. It also supports smartphone and tablet pairing allowing users to browse for videos while watching, fling up new videos to the PS3 from paired devices, control the video with smartphones and even comment while watching.
It also offers an almost-complete Signed In experience allowing YouTube members to access all their saved content from liked and Watch Later videos to playlists and subscribed channels. The only feature not available on the PS3 is the ability to upload videos.
