Sony: We need third parties to step up to help make the PS Vita a success

Sony has recognised the need to get strong outside support to help make the PS Vita a success.

The electronics giant's CFO, Masaru Kato has said as much in their latest investor report emphasising that getting good games on their platform is a fundamental that they need to put more resources into.

Kato said, "One thing clear for us that in terms of profitability we have to do a better job in promoting the PlayStation Vita mobile product."

"How do we do that?" he continued, "Well, gaming business software is the name of the game. So as a fundamental measure, we are putting a lot of resources, not just first party, but also asking third parties to put out more attractive software. That's the basics."

So far the Vita's limited third party support has had mixed results with Assassin's Creed III: Liberation seeing moderate critical and commercial success but Call Of Duty's first outing (Black Ops Declassified) tanking.
