E3 2004: Konami's camouflage competition 'exposed'
Make your mark in Snake Eater
Konami of Europe launched a new competition today: The Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater camouflage campaign. Entrants submit their own camouflage designs to be worn by the protagonist of the game, and the three lucky winners - judged by Hideo Kojima himself, no less - will have their designs featured in the final game and be listed on the Konami website, the official game website, and in the end credits of the game. These winners will be announced at the Tokyo Game Show, Japan, and also on the Konami website.
Why the strange competition then? Well, the new game, set in the political turbulence of the 1960s, sees the gamer immersed in a mission to uncover a new weapon of mass destruction, exploring open-ended realistic jungle environments employing all their stealth and skill to avoid detection. To aid this, a new 'camouflage index' has been implemented, allowing players to don various shades of face paint and fetching camouflage appropriate to their surroundings in order to blend in. The winning designs will, of course, be featured here.
So how do you enter? Just pop along to http://www.konamijpn.com/camouflage/index.html (where you can also download different camouflage patterns), submit your design before June 30th, then cross your fingers and hope for the best!
