It has been an explosive start to E3 for thus far, and the Japanese giant show little sign of letting up having also confirmed some new games for the - which we'll commence with by looking at God's of War, a singleplayer combat game from the creators of Twisted Metal. Sony's Santa Monica studio are in charge of the development, and a game based upon the 'brutality of Greek mythology' is promised.

As warrior Kratos, players entering the God's of War world will find themselves battling through a classically inspired story, tackling the "various plot twists that take them through explosive aggressive gameplay, fused with traps, stunts, and story-driven puzzles."

"God's of War doesn't pretend to play nice. It's a game that will appeal to both hard-core and gamers by delivering adrenaline-packed action combat set in the world of Greek mythology," enthused SCEA's Ami Blaire. "Not only is it visually stunning and engaging, but it provides a dramatic storyline with unique raw combat melee spliced with extreme artistic environments that will help drive the category, while showcasing the power of PlayStation 2."

ATV Offroad Fury 3 is another new PS2 title from the house of Sony, which is being developed by the UK's Climax studio, for a release in November. The third instalment in the popular series; we're promised more free-roaming off-road gameplay larger and more numerous courses, mini-games, more vehicles, and most interestingly a brand new PS2 Online mode. Six players will be supported online, as will voice communication via the USB headset, Ami Blaire enthused "From to new tracks, ATVs and mini-games mixed with the ability to pull off crazy stunts and tricks in stunning environments, what other alternative is there to the real thing?!"

New game modes and a wider range of vehicles, not to mention visually lush new graphics, and new types of terrain are also boasted in Climax's latest, as is a higher level of potential ATV customisation.

A Mark Kri sequel was also confirmed in the shape of Rise of the Kasai, a new action-adventure title which will build upon the original with new plotlines, weapons, characters, and a co-operative mode - all of which will combine in a title which promises to be three times larger than the original. The bizarre plottings of this Bottlerocket developed sequel will begin ten years before the original, and continue ten years after, giving two players to choose from and a story of discovery and adventure.

Two players will be able to team-up and progress online, using the improved combat system, and plenty of dynamic environs, spirit guides, improved AI, and other shenanigans is promised.

The game will be out at the beginning of 2005.

Last but not least of the newcomers, is another imaginative creation for the EyeToy peripheral - EyeToy: AntiGrav - a game which promises to use the motion sensor webcam thingy in a new way with 'hover board' gameplay, enabling the player to control an in-game character on-screen using the EyeToy for the first time. The use of colour and body movement recognition is the key, and the player's various sways and leanings will control an on-screen "3D character in steering, speed, and trick manoeuvres, as they interact with the environment and avoid obstacles."

Unlockable content will be available from the eight courses in the game, and players will be able to battle 'ghost' versions of their friends in addition to the game's AI foes. A dynamic soundtrack is also on the cards, as well as upgrades earnt through in-race success.

Harmonix Music Systems, the developer behind Amplitude and Karaoke Revolution are in charge of this new title, which will be released in the Autumn, and they promise eight colourful characters, along with an impressive roster of tricks. Each course can also be completed via various routes, meaning you shouldn't get bored of the eight going too quickly, we're informed.

More on this, and everything else, as we get it.
