Ubisoft exposed a little more of their already confirmed sequel today to the clamouring gaming masses eager for another outing in the Prince's excellent adventures so enjoyed by many with last year's Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time outing. Prince of Persia 2 (a working title) is being created by Ubisoft's Montreal studio, and a premise in which the Prince faces his pre-ordained death by journeying to a cursed island is mooted.

Mankind's greatest fears are reportedly held upon this mysterious island, on which the Prince will have to demonstrate extreme skill and resolve like never before to succeed. 'Battles without boundaries' are apparently the order of the day in PoP's new 'free-form' combat system, whilst unique fighting styles can be developed to manipulate the environment and control the 'Ravages of Times'.

A variety of new and diverse weapons will be at the Prince's disposal, and many will be usable in tandem creating all manner of unusual battles, which promise more intense, longer-lasting challenges that will require new and evolving skills to master.

"Prince of Persia The Sands of Time was the most critically acclaimed game of 2003," commented Ubi CEO Yves Guillemot. "With Prince of Persia 2, we intend to build on that masterpiece that will take Prince of Persia one step further to take over the action-combat genre. We will offer you an even higher level of excellence that should once more convince the critics and the public."
