Jaffe: Twisted Metal is not just about blowing s**t up
Jaffe insists that Twisted Metal is a much deeper experience than that
David Jaffe has been trying to explain that there's a lot more depth to his most recent offering, Twisted Metal on the PS3.
On the surface, Twisted Metal seems very superficial in that it revels in destruction but Jaffe wants to stress that the real meat of the game is more about solid tactical strategic multiplayer gameplay.
Jaffe told an interview with Gamasutra, "The way I think of Twisted Metal is that it's kind of the shallow end of the pool, and the deep end of the pool. People might say that it's a throwback, in that in its first initial glance it's old school. Some of it was intentional and some of it was accidental... we really did begin to realize that what made the game special was the multiplayer tactical, strategic, meaty, nutritious gameplay."
The departing Eat Sleep Play boss summed up his thoughts on Twisted Metal by saying that it's "not just the surface of blowing shit up" adding that it is "meant to engage your brain and try and make really cool choices."
Twisted Metal will arrive for European PS3s on March the 7th after a slight holdup due to a few European ratings boards requiring a some slight cuts be made to the game's cinematics for it to make suitable for release.
