Microsoft: We're not competing with the Wii U in 2012
No new Xbox hardware coming in the near future
There will be no new Microsoft home console in 2012 according to their French marketing director, Cedrick Delmas.
Delmas revealed that they have no plans to release any new console in 2012 stressing that the Xbox 360's life cycle is still far from over.
He also pointed out that Nintendo has now distanced themselves from the old-school hardware race that Microsoft and Sony still find themselves in adding, "We are not here to deal with Nintendo and they are not there to fight against other manufacturers. Nintendo has placed itself in a different cycle, they advance at their own pace, successfully as we have seen with the Wii, and now it is their turn to present their innovation."
All kinds of rumours have been circulating surrounding the next generation of Xbox hardware from prototype development kits in use at EA to the new hardware featuring everything from a Blu-Ray drive to a full tablet computer as a controller.
