Sony Online Entertainment has revealed that their main fantasy MMO has seen a jump in player numbers of around 300 percent since it became a title.

John Smedley, SOE president, said on his account: "We are seeing some amazing growth in EverQuest II. [There's been a] 40 per cent increase in daily logins since going free-to-play and a 300 per cent increase in new players. And we've seen a 200 per cent increase in item sales. Plus we have added a lot of new subs. All during the time that some really good hit the market."

EverQuest II launched in 2004 and has seen a gradual shift to free-to-play with EverQuest II Extend a reduced free-to-play version of the game launching in 2010 and the whole game making the FTP switch towards the end of last year.
