It has emerged that Japanese retailers are cutting the prices of their stock after dropped drastically of Sony's new handheld in its second week on sale.

Vita sales dropped sharply from 325,000 in launch week to just 72,000 in its second week prompting some retailers to take action.

That saw retailers cutting as much as 20 percent off the price of the 3G version of the PS Vita selling it at 24,999 YEN (206 GBP) instead of the 29,980 YEN (247 GBP) price recommended by Sony.

While this was going on the enjoyed its best-ever week in selling a whopping 482,000 units.
