Miyamoto clarifies his retirement comments

Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto has provided some clarity to comments he made that seemed to indicate that he wanted to retire.

Miyamoto-san explained that comments in a recent interview with Wired where he seemed to indicate that he was to retire from his current role at Nintendo to work on a series of smaller projects were "misunderstood".

He explained: "Nothing has changed, and nothing will be changed in the near future of the company."

He will continue to oversee the big titles in development at Nintendo but will be working with smaller teams on new projects too. He added: "Whenever we try to create something brand new, we have to start from a very small, capable team. When a big company is trying to do something really new, it's not a good idea for many people to work on it from the start."
