Final Fantasy XIV subscriptions begin again in January
Is it too late to try subscriptions again though?
Final Fantasy XIV's stint as a free-to-play MMO will be coming to an end at the beginning of next year.
Square Enix has not billed Final Fantasy XIV players since the tsunami hit Japan back in March. Instead they have been using the time to revamp the game and finally get the PS3 version ready for release.
The fully revitalised version of Final Fantasy XIV will launch on January the 6th when billing will resume. Billing options will be available to choose from the 16th of December and include a 6.99 USD monthly fee, a 90-day fee of 17.97 USD or a 180-day fee of 29.94 USD.
It is odd that Square Enix would choose to relaunch FFXIV under a subscription model at a time when all the major players including the likes of World of Warcraft, City of Heroes and Age of Conan are moving, at least in part, to a free-to-play model.
Thanks Gamasutra.
