PS3 firmware version 4.0 arrives this week
Vita support arrives ahead of its Japanese launch
Sony has revealed that their latest revision of the PlayStation 3's firmware will become available to download this week.
The main purpose of the new update is to prepare the PS3 for the arrival of the PS Vita which will hit Japanese shelves on the 17th of December as well as adding a few more privacy features.
The features will include the ability to update the Vita as well as uploading savegames, media and full games from the console. PlayStation Plus subscribers will also be able to customise their auto-update features including enabling or disabling system updates, game patches, recommended games and videos and trophy syncing.
PS3 owners will also now be able to filter their friend requests and messages.
