Battlefield 3 declared illegal in Iran
Pressure group claims that the game ramps up fear of Iran
Officials in Iran have taken exception to DICE's latest military shooter declaring Battlefield 3 "illegal".
Battlefield 3 features a fictitious conflict between the US and Iran on the Iran/Iraq border as an air assault on Tehran.
While EA has no official resellers in Iran piracy is rife in the country and the Iranian police have begun to crack down on sales of Battlefield 3 saying "all computer stores are prohibited from selling this illegal game".
One online pressure group which has amassed a 5000-signature petition against the release of the game stated: "We understand that the story of a video game is hypothetical but we believe the game is purposely released at a time when the US is pushing the international community into fearing Iran."
Perhaps it might have been more accurate for them to state that the story has been used because Iran has appeared as a figure of fear in the world at the moment rather that the opposite being true.
Thanks MCV.
