Veteran big-name developer has laid-off 29 of its employees, reports today indicate, bringing the total count at the gaming heavyweight to about 389. The cuts were made, according to a spokesman, in order "to bring studio staffing levels into line with the current slate," GameSpot were informed. Staff were reportedly told of the cut-backs in a meeting on Friday afternoon.

LucasArts seem to be having something of a torrid time lately, with these cut-backs the latest in a string of a disappointments related to the once 'golden' developer, which is currently without a President or Director of Marketing after those positions were vacated.

Finally, LucasArts has been heavily criticised lately for canning development on new Sam and Max and Full Throttle titles, which originally bore the hope of a return to the 'good old' adventuring days at the firm, frequently-maligned for the unoriginal and derivative nature of many recent games, too.
