Sony's choice to move DC Universe Online has seen the game pick up 120,000 new users tempted to play at being a superhero or villain by the freeness.

The game's executive producer Lorin Jameson said: "This is the right business model. If I can be honest, the game ended up costing a lot more than we thought it would, and this was our preferred business model from day one."

The game is also available as a 25 GB download for comic book fans on PlayStation Network.
