One of the world's largest publisher's EMI has launched a against the videogaming world's top dog alleging that the firm has used compositions owned by EMI in breach of their copyright. The most recent and Tiger Wood's games are named in the suit, and EMI are reportedly seeking a proportion of the publisher's profits on titles believed to infringe copyright laws.

"This entire is related to a single song that samples lyrics from another song," an EA spokesperson responded to the allegations. "Our use of that song was licensed directly from the artist. We have agreements for every song used in our games."

EMI commented that they believe the total award could by as high as "tens of millions of dollars", based upon EA's earnings from the offending products. EA's rebuke that the offending track was licensed directly from the artist however does suggest that this may be a simple case of crossed-wires or miscommunication. We shall see.
