Blizzard to auction World of Warcraft server blades for charity
Money to go to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital
Blizzard has announced that they will be auctioning off server blades from World of Warcraft in order to raise money for charity.
The original blades from the HP BladeSystem that were once home to the realms of Azeroth and hundreds of WOW players across North America and Europe will be up for sale to raise money for St Jude's Children's Research Hospital, a world-leading centre of research into serious childhood illnesses.
Blizzard president Mike Morhaime said: "World of Warcraft realms are like the virtual neighborhoods of the games community - they contain the spaces where millions of players have made friendships, forged friendly rivalries, and created lasting memories. Each winner in this auction will own a small monument to those collective experiences. The best part is that this auction benefits a great charity doing tremendous work in helping children from the U.S. and around the world."
In all 2000 individual blades will be auctioned off on Blizzard's Ebay channel under the watchful eye of Kompoli over the course of four weeks beginning on October the 17th.
