City of Heroes going free-to-play
First 50 levels-worth of play to be available for free
NCSoft has announced that they will be moving City of Heroes to a free-to-play model similar to World of Warcraft.
City of Heroes will be free-to-play up until level 50 opening up the seminal superhero MMO to a whole new audience.
As well as experiencing the first 50 levels for free players will be able to buy extra content as and when they want to build their own custom superhero experience.
Brian Clayton, executive producer on City of Heroes said: "Our fans have come to expect great content and with City of Heroes Freedom we've clearly raised the bar by delivering the best gameplay we've ever developed, and giving players the choice to truly customise their gaming experience. We aren't just flipping a switch and going 'Free-to-Play.' We're embarking on the biggest content and feature update to City of Heroes in its seven-year history."
