Is Dead Island on Steam a development build and not the final version?
It may even be an Xbox 360 port
Techland are investigating the possibility that the wrong version of their new free-roaming zombie title Dead Island may have found its way onto Steam.
Dead Island launched today in the US and segments of code highlighted by PC gamers on the Steam forums point to the possibility that the version on Steam is a development build and not the finished version. The code segments also indicate that it might even be an Xbox 360 port of the game.
Techland is investigating and has released a patch promising that all should be well for the European launch of the game on Friday.
They said: "Techland is currently investigating this information and we'll do everything we can to make sure everyone can enjoy playing their copy of Dead Island. Deep Silver is a part of every release process and any further updates will come from the game's publisher."
An initial patch to remove the developer options is already live on Steam.
