Germany seems to be taking a more relaxed attitude towards violent video games with the ban on DOOM being lifted.

After spending 17 years on a list of games that were deemed too mature for general sale, DOOM and DOOM II have now received a 16+ Rating.

Bethesda announced the good news on their official blog adding that id has not been asked to make any cuts on their new in order for it to see a release in Germany.

The post read: "Good news for German gamers! Following an appeal to the German ratings board, both DOOM and DOOM II have been de-listed and now carry a 16+ rating. While we work to make both DOOMs available widely there, were also set to release an entirely uncut version of id Softwares RAGE to German stores. Look for it on October 7!"
