Resistance 3 will be Insomniac's last game in the series
It is healthy to move on
Insomniac is bowing out on the FPS series that they created for the launch of the PS3, with launch of Resistance 3.
The Ratchet and Clank developer has confirmed that they will not be making any more Resistance titles for now with the PS Vita title Resistance: Burning Skies to be handled by Californian indie studio Nihilistic.
Marcus Smith, creative director at Insomniac said: "I think Insomniac has always branched out. I loved the Spyro the Dragon series when [Insomniac] did that. I didn't work there at the time, and I was bummed when they didn't work on the fourth game, but ultimately, I think it was healthy for them to move on. I think that's what we're seeing here,. We've done Resistance 3 and we're really into it and proud of it, but we're not currently slated to do a Resistance 4. So it would be hard to say it's any kind of lynchpin within Insomniac. I think we're thriving and branching out in a lot of different directions."
The series initially caused a bit of a stir by faithfully recreating Manchester Cathedral for one of the levels in the first game.
